The Game
It was released in Japan (SLPS 25041) on June 28, 2001 on PlayStation 2. It was developed by Sacnoth (name changed to Nautilus later on), and published by ARUZE CORP., it was re-released as a PlayStation2 The Best version (SLPS 73418) on November 6, 2003, a debug edition of PlayStation2 The Best version was released because of a bug that would cause the game to freeze when saving at the end of the Asia chapters (click here to go to the official caution page), there is an extra inverted red triangle on the front cover for visual differentiation of the versions.
A Premium DVD is bundled with PlayStation2 The Best version (both the initial release and the debug release), the DVD contains Shadow Hearts II trailers V1 and V2 and 3 TV commercials (for Uru, Kallen and Amon), trailer V1 contains some rare scenes that do not exist in the released game.
The localization for US and European versions were done by Midway, in which the US version (SLUS 20347) was released on December 11, 2001 and the PAL version (SLES 50677) was released on April 5, 2002.
The story starts in 1913, on a train in China, our hero, Urmnaf Bort Hyuga (Uru/Yuri) was guided by a voice in his head to rescue Alice Elliot (Alice). After the semi-interactive event, the journey begins.
