I was planning on putting it off for a while in lieu of studying, but I couldn't keep myself away. I'm glad I gave in. I beat it this morning, and it was a pretty incredible experience the whole way through. I'd definitely recommend playing through 1, 2 and 3. I'd almost recommend stopping 4 and shooting through those others quickly. Having played all of the cannon Solid games, aside from the PSP outing, I can say it definitely helped my enjoyment of the story. There were also, as one would expect, lots of twists and lots of spoilers related to the first three games. So, if you play through MGS4 before the others, you'll loosely know what's going to happen in each MGS and it may impact your enjoyment. I bought and played through Origins, the PS2 port, and though there was nothing overtly "wrong" about the game, storywise it didn't feel necessary, and I don't think it added much to the series as a whole. Also it just didn't have that special, indescernible quality that's uniqe to the other games. Also, thanks for your incredible Silent Hill galleries, they've been a real joy to peruse. Take care!
